When I started the experiment
of doing a triathlons again, I knew that time would be a constraint due to my busy schedule and workout load. I decided to have a minimal training approach that will not require more than 10-11 hours per week at the peak. Plus, because I am 15 years younger from my last tri, I needed to have more than one Rest Day
during some weeks in the training schedule.
At some point in the middle of my traing, I found this video from Triathlon Network that talks about how to approach a minimal training schedule to tackle an Ironman triathlon. The video explains how to split the training weekly time into the three sports, and how to split each sport training time with some suggestion of how your training my look like in terms of type of workouts.
Sport | Sessions | Duration | Details |
---|---|---|---|
Swim | 2 sessions | 1.5 hours | 45 min / 45 min |
Bike | 3 Bike Rides | 6 hours | 4.5 hrs / 60 min / 30 min |
Run | 3 (inc. 1 brick session) | 2.5 hours | 30 min / 90 min / 30 min |
Total | 10 hrs |
I decided to split the info, and combine it with the schedule from White Lake Half 2023, and apply it, to my next Half Ironman training
Volume | Swim | Bike | Run | Total |
